Tour of the Rings – Part 1
From Baltimore I headed west. After a detour to Mizen Head lighthouse, I took the Ring of Beara. The past three days I spent on Kerry Penisula.
Although the penisula is not very large and most of the visitors do the trip around the famous “Ring of Kerry” in just one day, I decided to split it up into a few parts.
First stop along the “Ring of Kerry” was the ancient Staigue Stonefort (Cathair na Stéige). It’s an iron age ring fort. I stayed the night in a small B&B close by, because I wantet do to some night shots of the fort. Unfortunately the night was very cloudy, without any stars or other kind of light. So I pulled out my torch and tried to illuminate the scene on my own. Actually, I was quite surprised how good the results are.
